CHRIS CRANEUnlike other games this season, where BC had to focus on multiple aspects of its gameplan in order to win, against UNC, the team will rise or fall on the performance of 5th year man Chris Crane.
Last week, the Eagles were lucky to escape with a win despite 5 turnovers including two pick-6 interceptions thrwon by Crane. Tomorrow, Crane must improve and do so in wet, rainy conditions against an opportunistic UNC defense.
TENACIOUS DThe Boston College defense is the reason the 5-1 Eagles have been in every game this season. Tomorrow should be no different against a team playing with a back-up QB (Starter T.J. Yates is injured) and missing Brandon Tate, its key playmaker, who is out for the season with torn knee ligaments. As ususal, the success of Defensive Coordinator Frank Spaziani's crew is flying under the radar.
Although the unit will be without Brian Toal and Wes Davis, they should be able to contain a UNC team that is 8th in the ACC with 127 yards rushing per game and 7th in the conference with fewer than 200 yards passing per game.
ON THE MEND
Defensive End Alex Albright, who is out for the year with a neck injury, underwent surgery this week to repair nerve damage.

BC 24 UNC 13 (If BC avoids turnovers)

The "no turnover" qualification is a big one. But I think, in the end, BC pulls this one out 21-10. My crystal ball is telling me that Haden breaks out this game, and Spaz keeps making all the right calls on D. If not, the little Aaahhhbuckles -- who are in my sole care this weekend -- are going to be in for a long afternoon.
Obviously, nothing is certain, but I have a hard time believing that BC will lose this game if they have zero turnovers.
